Literary Devices

Literary Devices:

Symbolism- the use of specific objects or images to represent an idea.
i.e. Thee wind symbolizes Pocohontas's Mother.
Foreshadowing- a hint in the story about something that could happen in the future.
i.e. The stepmother's evil face in Cinderella tells you she might do something evil to her.
Flashback- as the story goes along, it stops in the middle and moves back in time as a memory or a dream.
i.e. Lion King, Simba flashbacks to when his father died.
Atmosphere- The feeling of the setting.
i.e. The Extremly Goofy Movie, when Max leaves for college, Goofy feels sad. As soon as he enters the house, everything is blue, sad music, the setting matches his feelings.
Plot Twist- Something that suprises you but it gave you hints about it.
i.e. Bambi, his mother dies, but it gave you hints. The music, the camera zooming in, and bambi's mom looking around.

-Gods aren't allowed in the underworld.

-Aerophinox used to be an evil demond but then became good by Veronica's power.
Falling Action:
-Aero. came to rescue Veronica.
Resolution:
Veronica destroyed Hellmaster and saves the day!

    AMBITION: To make sure bullies don`t rule the school "SO HADIES WON`T TAKE OVER THE WORLD"
    SECRET: She thinks everything is like a fairytale and she is the hero
    POCKET: She always has her sword "MAGICAL PEN"
    BEST FRIEND: Veronica`s best friend is Ashley Reality: Tutor`s little kids Dream: Teaches little angels to fly.
    WORST ENEMY: Reality: Doug the bully Dream: Hades

Summer Reading: The Outsiders

The book I read over the summer was a classic book called "The Outsiders" Written by. S.E. Hinton. The book mainly took place around the 1960's and it's about the main character Ponyboy who finds himself in deep trouble. The start off his problems, both of his parents died and he lives with his 2 big brothers Darry and Soda. You might think that life with out parents are easier but ever since that happened, all 3 boys lives have gone harder and harder. Another important thing, all 3 boys are in a gang called the Greasers but they don't look at it as a gang, the are more like a family; unlike there enemies the Socials but more likely called the Socs. The Socs don't look at themselves as a family. They are more organized and usually see them riding in a hot car like a blue mustang. The greasers always have each others backs, especially for Johnny. Johnny is living a very tough life. His parents beat him, the Socs really hurt him, and he never really felt love. The greasers are the only family he has and thanks to them he really got a chance to know how love felt. During the story Johnny was trying to protect Ponyboy but it turned out to be a real sticky situation. Pony and Johnny had to run away so Johnny wont end up behind bars. As soon as you read the story, you will be in an emotional roller coaster ride. I would recommend this book for you to read.
