Literary Devices

Literary Devices:

Symbolism- the use of specific objects or images to represent an idea.
i.e. Thee wind symbolizes Pocohontas's Mother.
Foreshadowing- a hint in the story about something that could happen in the future.
i.e. The stepmother's evil face in Cinderella tells you she might do something evil to her.
Flashback- as the story goes along, it stops in the middle and moves back in time as a memory or a dream.
i.e. Lion King, Simba flashbacks to when his father died.
Atmosphere- The feeling of the setting.
i.e. The Extremly Goofy Movie, when Max leaves for college, Goofy feels sad. As soon as he enters the house, everything is blue, sad music, the setting matches his feelings.
Plot Twist- Something that suprises you but it gave you hints about it.
i.e. Bambi, his mother dies, but it gave you hints. The music, the camera zooming in, and bambi's mom looking around.
